actual-coaching Self-Coaching: work on yourself first! Self-coaching is the process to work with oneself using the tools and techniques of a professional coach. Being the coaching a process a personal development, and the coach, a mentor and someone to help you through the method of asking key questions, the goal is to provoke self-reflection and make the person think about him-her self in all aspects of our lives. With this in mind, the self-coaching is going to be an intermediate step, in which we can by ourselves make us those questions we never have the time to make, trying to obtain a real image of our inner personality, to find the correct answers to our questions.

To listen to ourselves, note our feelings and get answers with the appropriate questions is what it has been called Self-Coaching.

How do you start a Self-Coaching process?

The key question is: what do I want to achieve? where am I going? what do I want to change? what do I have that is no longer useful to me?. As from this starting point, we can start planning how to apply the self-coaching.

We always postpone our dreams with excuses self-imposed to us, with obligations and must-do’s. But a good analysis of our situation, and the development of a strategy will allow you to manage your personal tasks and obligations with achieving what you really want, whatever it may be. The first question we have to answer is:

How do I want to live my life? What are my objectives? What qualities make me special and different from others?

The idea of self-coaching is that whether or not you have a personal coach you can live in a motivated life as if you have the coach with you constantly. Imagine having someone there to motivate you and to encourage you and cheer you on, how would it feel? If done in the proper way you would increase you productivity many times. You would feel happier and be able to concentrate on your goals and placing your effort where it can be most productive. But we do not have this so what can we do? We can start by supporting encouraging and motivating ourselves.

What motivates you? Do you know? One way to find out is to monitor your conversations. What topic do you speak about the most? What topic do you end up speaking about despite the topic that was started? Many times that is an indicator of your true interests. True you may find your topic is always about your hobby or something you enjoy but not a source of motivation for your daily routine and job. But on the other hand this is one way to come to learn about yourself and maybe use that information as a guide.

This is not something a person needs to dedicate a lot of time to. Just it requires a bit of openness and honesty to be aware of what you are feeling and thinking. As the day goes on if you just can step back for a minute here and there and observe what is already there you will be surprised at what you can uncover if you are willing to see it.

The point is not to be self-critical but to have the tools to grow with and to change. Even if you find a negative trait that also is a personal guide to assist you in your life. It reveals where your weak points are and where you need to improve and which areas to focus on. What can you do with this information once you start to find it? You can, for one, start to live with it. You can start to see yourself in another light or from a different angle. If for example you find that you are always talking or thinking about a certain topic like money so that is important information about yourself.

Make sure you check from time to time our Coaching Tools and Coaching Resources section, we will add there plenty of tools and techniques for self-coaching that will be of great value for you.
